故人はDuring the service in the U.S. Navy, he had long served in Japan, afterwards as being the Department of Defense official for Japan affairs, he had contributed to the strengthening of  the Japan-U.S. alliance. He was awarded the Order of the Rising Sun, Gold Rays with Neck Ribbon in 2008. We would like to express our sincere gratitude for the kindness shown to Mr. Auer by all of you and report this to you with great respect.
